I have a 3 hour bike ride to work as a super commuter -- here's why it's better than taking the bus or driving

Dragging your butt to work every day can sometimes seem endless cycle – especially if this is your mode of transport.

Such is the case of super commuter Alex Heatzig, who cycles into the office every two weeks, burning more than 2,200 calories during his three-hour rides.

“I commute 50 miles to work by bike,” said the triathlete, a project manager from San Francisco, California, in a viral TikTok video.

Heatzig is among the number of borderless 9-to-5ers who routinely go to extreme lengths to travel long distances for a paycheck outside of their hometown.

Super-traveling hairstylist Kaitlin Jay, 30, drops over $1,000 to fly 700 miles between Charlotte, North Carolina, and her Upper West Side workplace every other week. Breadwinner Kyle Rice, an EMS tech, spends $1,500 a month to ride trains from New Castle, Delaware, to NYC’s financial district for his office days at work.

But for Heatzig, instead of sitting on a 90-minute bus ride or driving an hour in his car, cycling brings the best benefits.Â

“It’s the most time-efficient way to get a workout,” the helmeted millennial told his more than 35,000 onlookers as he wheeled it into a two-wheeler.

He begins his superhuman-like journeys around 5:45 a.m., cruising at an average speed of roughly 18 miles per hour, arriving at his desk just before the start of his shift, according to his impressive series of posts. Â

“My afternoons aren’t full of anxiety about ‘if work starts or I have to work late’ what am I going to do for my workout,” Heatzig continued about the benefits of pedaling. “I check that box first thing in the morning.”

“It really sets the tone for the day,” he added. “I start my day being extremely productive.

“And that gets the ball rolling.â€

The many benefits of commuting aside, online detractors often blast the avid biker for his “crazy” travel practices.

But instead of letting criticism from critics get under him SchwinnHeatzig shared a few more details of his workday travels.

“I’ll only do these trips twice a week if I feel good and it’s just on the way to work,” he said. “After work, I’ll throw my bike under the bus and take the bus home.”

“Also,” the sweaty cyclist continued, “I’ll leave my clothes at work the day before and shower at work.”

“So don’t worry about me not smelling the whole office.â€

And as a final note to people who think he’s crazy, an unbridled Heatzig laughed and said, “That’s subjective.”
